ASIAN ROTIFERS

Although it is an oversimplification, rotifer research in Asia can be viewed as occurring in three waves: (1) European expeditions; (2) Asian-European collaborative efforts; (3) Asian researchers establish their own research programs. For example: (1) Hauer (1937-38a, 1937-38b), Thorpe (1893); (2) Segers & Sanoamuang (1994); (3) Pholpunthin & Sanoamuang (1998), Sanoamuang (1998), Vasisht & Dawar (1969), Zhunge & Hauang (1998). The majority, but certainly not all, of these works have been taxonomic and biogeographical in nature.
